Entropy

Why does life constantly get more complicated?
Entropy.
Here's the driving force behind the world (and how to fight back):
Entropy is best explained through an example:
Imagine you just bought a Star Wars Lego set.
When you get home, you're excited to put it all together.
Now theoretically... if you open the box and drop the LEGOs to the floor:
Every piece could land in the exact right spot, completing the figure without you even touching it.
But the odds are HEAVILY stacked against it.
There's only one possible scenario where every piece lands in the perfect spot...
But an infinite amount of possibilities where the pieces don't.
Let's relate this to real life:
Things in life seem to constantly get more complicated:
• Career
• Relationships
• Health and Fitness
There seems to be an infinite amount of ways things can go wrong.
This is the basic idea behind entropy.
Entropy means disorder.
And disorder is ever increasing because the odds heavily favor it.
Its a fundamental law of the universe.
The world has a tendency to move toward disorder and become less structured.
• Weeds overtake gardens.
• Cars begin to rust.
• People gradually age.
How do we fight back?
The good news:
We can maintain order.
• Solve a puzzle.
• Keep up good fitness.
• Maintain a healthy relationship.
But... it requires effort.
Because the world naturally creates disorder:
We constantly have to spend energy to create solutions.
Just as a messy room will continue to be messy unless energy is spent cleaning it:
Life will never work itself out for us.
So what does this mean and what can we do about it?
My main takeaway:
We all have finite amounts of energy.
Where we focus this energy to fight entropy is more important than ever.
The focus paradox:
The less opportunities you focus on, the better the outcome.
Narrow your focus, for the best results.
"The universe is rigged in a way that if you have one desire and focus on it , you will get it." - Naval
Main Lesson:
The world is ruled by entropy.
Focus on the few things that matter to you, and fight back.
