Studies found this correlates to pitching velocity

A 2024 Division 1 study looked at what actually correlates with fastball velocity.

The strongest relationship they found were with concentric impulse and peak power in a countermovement jump.

Pitchers who could produce more impulse vertically were also the ones generating more forward momentum and throwing harder.

In plain terms, your ability to produce force quickly with the lower body helps you throw hard.
