Overthinking.

It's something we all do.

And we do it, because it gives us the sense of control.

The more we think, the more we feel like we're in control.

Like we're working through the solutions to a problem.

But often, overthinking happens when things are out of our control.

We try to predict the future.

The unknown is scary, so we keep replaying it in our minds.

I used to do this all the time as a player:

If I had a bad outing, I’d replay every pitch in my head, over and over.

If I was nervous before a game, I’d obsess about what would happen.

And during games - I’d overthink the simplest throws.

But here's what I've learned.

None of those things are in my control.

Even the throw itself - is too complex to control completely.

When you start to overthink, you start to try harder.

And that's when things fall apart.

Baseball is weird like that—the harder you try, the worse you play.

It’s a paradox.

What you want to do instead:

Look back at all the hours you spent overthinking.

And see them for what they are - a waste of time.

None of that overthinking made you better.

It likely did more harm than good.

It's just a coping mechanism to feel in control in the moment.

We want to feel like we’re control.

But sometimes, things are simply out of our hands.

And when we obsess over those things, it drags us down.

So, here’s my message to you:

If you’re facing something within your control, do everything you can to create a positive outcome.

But if it’s beyond your control, find a way to let it go.

Remind yourself that nothing good comes from it.

Distract yourself with a hobby.

Just focus on taking one step forward everyday.

Because when you do that…

Things will unfold as they’re meant to.

Whenever you’re ready, there are 3 ways I can help you:

1. Free 9 Week Program: A free generic program for those looking to gain velocity.
